Acrylic and Ultraviolet Light

Unlike glass, acrylic glass does not filter ultraviolet (UV) light. Acrylic glass transmits UV light down to 300 nm. Hydrosight acrylic includes an additive to make the acrylic absorb UV light. This property is wanted for most applications, e.g. aquariums and architecture. However we can deliver specialized acrylic, that allows UV transmission. This might be interesting for technical applications.

30 years guarantee against yellowing

On the other end of the spectrum we can deliver UV-absorbing special grade for applications requiring high UV protection.

Please also note that acrylic molecules have great UV stability compared to Polycarbonate. Plexiglas windows have shown virtually no degradation in outdoor environments with strong direct sunlight for decennia.
